The New Braunfels Evening Lions club (ID 1578) was chartered on 31 May 1967.
We are proud to be the 900th Lions Club in Texas (see our program from our Charter Night). As part of Lions Club International, we serve with other Lions Clubs that are in over 200 countries. Lions are at work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because we are local, we can serve the unique needs of New Braunfels and Comal County.
We want everyone to see a better tomorrow
That is why we support sight programs and services including vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling.
We believe everyone deserves a healthy life
From providing health programs that focus on hearing loss to supporting efforts to control and prevent diabetes, we’re working to improve the health of children and adults around the world.
We empower the next generation
We invest in the future by reaching out to young people by organizing Leo Clubs and supporting other local youth organizations.
We serve to improve our community and to protect the planet
We perform hands-on service projects to improve our community and protect the environment.
At this time our club has 52 members with 33 men and 19 women.
Club meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, although usually only once in November and December. The meetings start at 6pm and typically last about 1 hour, and most have a guest speaker.
Dues are $200 annually for regular active members. Members are billed quarterly $50; if budgeting for this, it is about $4 a week. These annual dues consist of local ($136), district ($7), state ($7), and international ($50) dues. The local dues portion is to cover administrative expenses such as post-office box rental, surety bond, web domain registry. There are other membership categories with lower dues, but those have some restrictions.
The Lions Club fiscal year is 1 July to 30 June.
