Fraudulent Requests for Grants, Monetary Donations, Confidential Information

It’s no longer unusual to receive a request for a monetary donation or for personal or confidential information that impersonates an established charitable organization or a person you know or is in a leadership position.  To protect against fraud and scams, stay vigilant by

Question requests that seem suspicious and validate requests with the known organization or known person.  Email apps can display the actual email address of the sender.  For example, Gmail and Outlook will display the email address by placing the mouse cursor over the display of the sender name.

Be cautious with links, attachments, and personal information sharing

Alert relevant Lions leadership and members of anything suspicious, and as necessary report to relevant authorities

Report as junk or spam any electronic correspondence confirmed to be fraudulent or a scam
