Parks and Recreation Volunteers Honored
New Braunfels, TX – In recognition of the support New Braunfels Parks receives throughout the year from volunteers, the Parks and Recreation Department hosted the 6th annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner last night at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center.
Volunteer efforts are visible throughout our community in projects such as park cleanup, tree planting and mulching, trail building and repair, planting and weeding landscape beds and assistance at special events. “This year, our department has reached historic heights in the quantity and quality of service to our parks volunteers have provided.” said Kelly Eby, City of New Braunfels Urban Forester. In 2014, park volunteers contributed a total of 4,785 hours valued at $104,259. “The amount of time that our volunteers donate yearly is remarkable,” said Stacey Dicke, Director of Parks and Recreation. “The department is truly privileged to have these fine men and women contributing their time and energy to our community.”
Last night’s event was themed “The Magic of Volunteers.” Guests enjoyed a magical evening of feasting, awards, and entertainment. Several volunteers and organizations were recognized with awards for their contributions to the Parks and Recreation Department and to the community as a whole.
The Parks and Recreation Department has an array of volunteer opportunities for individuals, small groups and large organizations. For more information on the Parks and Recreation Department’s volunteer program call 830-221-4367 or visit www.nbtexas.org/parks.
