The Yellow Dot Program is a free safety initiative that helps first responders access vital medical information during emergencies by using a yellow decal and a personal information card. The New Braunfels Evening Lions club supports this program by having a free Yellow Dot Program package available to anyone in our community and in Comal county. Contact us to request a package.
Overview
The Yellow Dot Program is designed to improve emergency response during the critical first “golden hour” after a car crash or other medical emergency. A yellow dot decal placed on the driver’s side rear window alerts first responders that a personal information card containing medical details, medications list, and emergency contacts is stored in the vehicle’s glove compartment, allowing for faster and more accurate care.
How It Works
- Receive a Kit: Participants may obtain a Yellow Dot kit from the New Braunfels Evening Lions Club. The kit includes a decal and a personal information card. An additional card and dot may be obtained for home use, typically placed on the front door with the card stored in the freezer.
- Complete the Card: Fill out personal details, medical conditions, medications, allergies, and emergency contacts. Attach a recent photo of yourself.
- Place the Card: Store the completed card in the glove compartment of your vehicle.
- Apply the Decal: Stick the yellow dot on the driver’s side rear window to alert first responders to check the glove compartment.
- Update Annually: Review and update the card regularly or during annual medical check-ups. Remove the decal if the vehicle is sold.
