Club member Daniel J. (DJ) Martinez sponsored the daughter of his good friends to attend the Texas Lions Camp. She attended the June 23 – 29 session for children with Down Syndrome. At the June 28 Awards Night, DJ joined with the family to celebrate.
Several members participated in the Men Who Cook event, held 12 October at the Witte Museum, that helped raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of San Antonio. They got 2nd place for People’s Choice and raised $3928.
As it has become a tradition, our club provides a scholarship to Lions Camp counselors selected by the camp staff. On July 12th, members of our club traveled to the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville to attend the Awards Night and participate in the celebration. Our club donated $1000 to the HOSA organization for future healthcare professionals at the Smithson Valley High School. Members from that HOSA organization volunteered to help us during our fundraising at Wurstfest 2024.
Lion Paul Drush, our club President, sponsored a boy and his family to attend the camp family session in June this summer. They were guests at our 4 September club meeting and told us about their wonderful experience at Lions Camp and their desire to attend again next summer.
